Serving This Generation (STG) Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1992 by a group of concerned residents whose mission is: to build a better community which empowers individuals and families to achieve greater self-sufficiency and quality of life through a network of comprehensive, community-based programs and initiatives focused on health care and disease prevention, youth development and education, advocacy, hunger prevention, nutrition services, senior care, and workforce development.
The Foundation is centrally located just west of Downtown Orlando in Orlando’s District 5. Orlando's District 5 includes downtown and many great neighborhoods in the western and southwestern corridor of the City and is home to some 40,000 plus residents, but it is also home to some of the City’s most blighted neighborhoods where the population has encountered high-unemployment and crime rates along with low income and sub-standard education achievement. Adults as well as children living in these neighborhoods have become disenfranchised and often struggle with no optimistic visions of the future. Many of the youth affected will never see graduation, nor enter the workforce and will become perpetually trapped in a cycle of poverty. Due to the cycle of poverty and distressed economic conditions whether it is generational or situational, without intervention and access to the necessary resources (i.e. education, job skills, or financial capital), the cycle will continue from generation to generation with no foreseeable end. And that’s where STG comes in. STG serves as an umbrella organization bridging the gap between available community resources and those needing such programs and services.
